No. 20 UConn men’s hockey disappoints in 4-0 loss to Providence

UConn men’s hockey suffered its worst defeat of the season, falling to No. 16 Providence 4-0 at Schneider Arena. The Huskies (8-8-2) were shut out for the first time since a 1-0 overtime loss to Maine on Feb. 15 last year.

Providence scored twice in the first period to pull ahead and eventually added a power-play goal in the third period to go up 3-0 and put the game away. The Friars added a bizarre short-handed, empty-net goal late after a pass from Carter Turnbull in the Huskies’ offensive zone deflected off Tyce Thompson’s stick and traveled the length of the ice into the net.
