New York man charged with federal hate crime after making violent, anti-Semitic threats against Stratford resident, prosecutors say

A New York man has been charged with a hate crime after he repeatedly made violent, anti-Semitic threats to a former neighbor in Stratford over the course of seven months from late last year through this spring.

Christopher Rascoll, 48, was arrested Friday in New York City and was ordered detained Monday by a federal judge in Bridgeport.

Rascoll is accused of sending a sustained barrage of hateful and threatening Facebook posts, text messages and voicemails to the victim, whom he conversed with only a handful of times at the pool at the victim’s Stratford residential community last summer, according to court records.
