New London motorcycle rider killed in I-95 crash in Branford

A New London man was killed Wednesday on Interstate 95 when he swerved his motorcycle between cars and crashed on the highway in Branford.

Angel Vega, 39, suffered fatal injuries during the crash, which shut down the interstate for part of the afternoon and evening, state police said.

The crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. when two cars were traveling in each of the two southbound lanes of I-95 just past Exit 55, according to a state police crash report.

The two cars were side-by-side when Vega split the lanes on his Suzuki motorcycle and swerved between them, but ultimately lost control and fell from the motorcycle directly in front of the Jeep in the left lane, police said.
