Family and friends of New Haven Fire Lt. Samod Rankins, who was one of two unconscious firefighters who were pulled out of a house fire on Valley Street earlier in the week, will be hosting a vigil and prayer service in light of his improving condition and to honor the death of firefighter Ricardo “Rico” Torres who lost his life in the blaze Wednesday.
The event will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Pitts Chapel Unified Free Will, located at 64 Brewster St. in New Haven. It will also be livestreamed on Facebook through Rankins’ aunt, Sharyn Guiont Conley.
