New Haven police release name of stabbing victim in third homicide of 2020

Police have released the name of a man who they said died after a stabbing in New Haven this week.

Secundino Ramirez, 29, of West Haven was found stabbed early Tuesday after an altercation on Congress Avenue at Cedar Street. He previously lived in New Haven, police said.

Officers were called to the stabbing at 12:01 a.m. The first officers on the scene learned that there had been a dispute between two men that turned physical. One man stabbed the other and ran away, police said.

The wounded man, later identified as Ramirez, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
