New Haven police are investigating an over night shooting that left the victim in critical condition.
Police said the shooting occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on Howard Avenue near First Street in the Hill neighborhood. Officers in the area heard gunfire and saw a vehicle fleeing toward the Howard Avenue area and began a pursuit, police said.
A short time later a gunshot victim from Howard Avenue arrived by private vehicle at Yale New Haven Hospital, police said.
Police did not identify the victim other than to say he is a 32-year-old New Haven man with life threatening injuries.
