New Haven police investigate deadly car-pedestrian collision Sunday

Police said they are looking for anyone who saw a fatal car-pedestrian collision Sunday afternoon in New Haven.

It happened about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Elm and Temple streets. The pedestrian was Milton Williams, 53, of New Haven, police said.

Investigators believe Williams was walking north on Temple Street when he entered the intersection. At the same time, a 28-year-old Hamden woman drove into the intersection; the Mazda had been headed east on Elm Street, driving with the flow of traffic, police said.

First responders provided medical help to the victim, and Williams was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
