New Haven police: 68-year-old woman dies after being hit by one or more hit-and-run drivers

A 68-year-old woman is dead after being struck by one or more hit-and-run drivers in New Haven, police said.

The collision happened about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Whalley Avenue, they said. First responders found a woman lying in the road between Davis and Anthony streets. The woman, who is believed to be from New Haven, was pronounced dead.

Police said they also found a car bumper and additional evidence in the street. Officers learned that the woman was struck by one or more cars that left the scene.

In addition to the Accident Reconstruction Team, detectives from Major Crimes and the Bureau of Identification are investigating, police said.
