A New Haven man who was arrested for shooting his girlfriend in the middle of the street while their 1-year-old daughter was in the car Monday morning admitted he just “snapped,” an arrest warrant released Wednesday said.
Rashod Newton, 27, was charged with the murder of 28-year-old Alessia Mesquita. Newton also faces charges of criminal possession of a firearm and risk of injury to a minor.
The incident took place around 9:30 a.m., Monday morning near Lenox Street and Clifton Street. Investigators canvassed the area for witnesses and security footage and were able to find a video that captured the whole interaction, police said.
