New Haven man arrested for stealing $20,000 of rims and tires from car dealerships

A New Haven man was arrested Monday for stealing more than $20,000 in rims and tires from multiple car dealerships.

Alex Ruiz, 28, was charged with two counts of third-degree larceny and two counts of third-degree criminal trespass for separate thefts at McDermott Chevrolet in East Haven in October and November 2020.

“On October 16, 2020 it was determined that all four rims and tires were stolen off of a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Badlander. The vehicle was discovered propped up on 4 jack stands,” police said.

“This time it was determined that all four rims and tires were stolen off of three cars; 2020 Lexus IS300F, 2016 Dodge Challenger, and 2019 Toyota Corolla,” they added.
