The 8-month-old baby girl found abandoned last week in a New Haven dumpster has been released from the hospital reunited with her family, police said Tuesday.

The girl continues to recover from burns and police have charged her 24-year-old babysitter with attacking her friend, the baby’s mother, on Oct. 12 and leaving the child in a dumpster behind the Presidential Gardens apartments on Dixwell Avenue.

Police and the Department of Children and Families continue to investigate how the baby was burned, Capt. Anthony Duff said.

Andiana Griciel “Nuni” Velez, of Hamden, was arrested and charged with risk of injury to a child, second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment.
