Motorcyclist dies in Sunday crash in New Haven, police say

A motorcyclist died Sunday evening after he crashed while trying to pass a car in New Haven, police said.

The crash happened about 6:20 p.m. as the 23-year-old man was headed south on Quinnipiac Avenue on a Kawasaki EX400 near Essex Street. He tried to pass a vehicle and lost control, crashing into a parked car, they said.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle, police said. First responders arrived at the scene, and he was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No one was in the parked car, Capt. Anthony Duff said.
