The collision happened at Foxon and Sea Hill roads. The rider received treatment on the scene and was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said.
“Emergency first responders performed extraordinary efforts, but it is with deep sadness that we report the operator of the moped did not survive their injuries,” they said in a release. They have not released the name of the person who died.
The driver of the vehicle that collided with the moped stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, who are from a regional accident reconstruction team.
