Monday’s temperature might break record as Heat Wave No. 6 continues to sizzle

Fall might have been in the air in Connecticut last week, but sultry summer temperatures have returned and may break a heat record Monday.

The temperature at Bradley International Airport is expected to reach the low 90s, which would make Aug. 24th the 39th day this year at 90 degrees or higher -- shattering the record of 38 days set in 1983.

Hartford also is in its sixth heat wave, tying the record set in 1949, said Torry Gaucher, a meteorologist at the National Weather Center in Boston. The record was tied two other years as well, according to data gathered by NWS meteorologist Bill Leatham: 1983 and 2012.
