A West Haven man who vanished two months ago on the night of his 50th birthday was found dead late last week in the water near Fire Island.
Gil Cunha has been missing since late in the night of May 7, when the schoolteacher left his family’s home for a walk and never returned.
West Haven police issued a missing persons report and Silver Alert for Cunha the following day and his family worried Cunha, who had fallen ill and self-isolated on the assumption it was COVID-19, was still feeling the adverse impacts of his sickness and quarantine, according to previous reports.
