Minor accident creates troubles for Hartford’s new police chief

An investigation is under way after the state police notified a prosecutor’s office that Hartford’s police chief had a minor accident with a city SUV last month in Chester without reporting it.

Chief Jason Thody wasn’t hurt when the passenger side of his SUV grazed a guardrail last month, and photos indicate the damage was restricted to several short scrapes along the vehicle’s body.

But the matter became public this week when a Hartford blogger wrote about it, and the state police started looking into what happened.
