Meriden man, 22, dies in New Haven shooting, police say

According to police, they responded about 8:45 a.m. to a report of a person on Kimberly Avenue, near First Street, who had had been shot. The first officer to arrive found a man, later identified as Gonzalez, lying on a First Street sidewalk. Medics treated him and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives from the city’s Major Crimes and Bureau of Identification divisions responded to the shooting scene and gathered evidence. The crime scene included parts of First Street and Kimberly, Greenwich and Howard avenues.
