Manchester police: Bar shut down after defying governor’s order

Manchester police shut down a local bar they said was operating in violation of Gov. Ned Lamont’s executive orders.

Officers visited the Hungry Tiger Café & Restaurant, 120 Charter Oak St., about 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Lt. Ryan Shea said. They cited owner Donald Denley with a misdemeanor violation of a state law, 19a-131a(d).

The statute reads: “Any individual who, during the course of a public health emergency, … violates the provisions of any order … shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than one year, or both, for each offense.”

A photographer for FOX61 said he saw people at the bar next to each other, ignoring social distancing practices.
