A woman suspected of a fatal hammer attack on a neighbor told police that the victim taunted her by banging on her door, blowing cigarette smoke into her window and calling her a racial slur.
But police said in an arrest warrant released Monday that Dalas Elder, 72, kept changing her story and was seen on video surveillance raising a hammer near the spot where the victim, Andrea Mazzoli, was found.
Elder faces first-degree assault and other charges for the severe and ultimately fatal assault on Mazzoli, 73, who was found unconscious outside a rear door to Krause Gardens Apartments on April 23.
