Police said they are trying to learn what led to a man lying in the entrance of the Comfort Inn & Suites in Meriden Sunday, dead of a gunshot wound.
Police said they were called to the hotel at 900 East Main St. about 1:50 a.m. A woman said there had been a shooting, and a man was in need of immediate medical help.
Officers arrived and found Rodriguez, who was pronounced dead on the scene despite first responders’ efforts to revive him, they said.
Detectives are working on leads after talking to witnesses and obtaining surveillance video of the area.
