A 64-year-old man died in an accident involving a stump grinder in Southington, police said Friday.
Carlos Vazquez of Bethany, died on April 17 while using the machine to remove tree stumps on Rockwood Drive, they said.
Police said they received a 911 call from the home about 10 a.m. saying there had been an accident. Officers found Vazquez with fatal injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, they learned that Vazquez had walked around to the front of the machine while the blade was still running.
