The crash happened sometime before 10:50 p.m. when Jonathan Perez, 36, was headed north on Route 8, police said.
He got off the highway, and the 2021 Hyundai Sonata he was driving sped down the exit ramp at Exit 18. It went off the ramp and struck a tree, state police said. Perez died at the scene.
