A 76-year-old died after a one-car crash in Southington Saturday, police said. A dog traveling with him survived.
Shortly before 2 p.m., James Dicaprio was driving a GMC Sierra pickup north on Meriden Avenue toward the center of town when the truck left the road, went across a front lawn, struck a chain link fence and came to a rest against an oil truck at 1244 Meriden Ave., police said Monday. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.
The 6-month-old Doberman riding in the truck didn’t appear to be injured, police said.
