Mamadou Diarra, Connecticut Prep Star, Expected To Commit To UConn Today

WOODSTOCK - Mamadou Diarra, the 6-foot-8 power forward who has made a name at Putnam Science Academy, is expected to announce his intention to attend UConn in 2016.

Diarra, who has also been considering Virginia Commonwealth, will announce his decision at 11:30 am in the library at Woodstock Academy.

Diarra, from Queens, visited UConn in April and attended the huskies game against Menphis in March. He has graduated from Putnam Science, which is closing, and will play as a post grad at Woodstock Academy next season.

As UConn lands Diarra, the Huskies coaches are looking to land a transfer who would be eligible in 2016.
