Despite Thursday’s less-than-stellar 78-60 win at home over Tulsa and a close win against an upset-minded No. 9 Texas, UConn women’s basketball maintained its perfect record. The Huskies also had a dominating victory over Temple on the road Sunday.
For her efforts, senior guard Kia Nurse was named the American Athletic Conference player of the week.
Against Texas, she played all 40 minutes, scoring 13 points, anchored by a 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line. On Thursday, she scored 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting, including 5-for-7 from 3-point range.
Nurse followed that up with an even better performance on Sunday, grabbing a game-high 24 points, shooting 69.
