In annual State of the Town address, mayor says despite ‘year of loss’, West Hartford has shown strength and success

Despite the pandemic, West Hartford in the past year has grown its tax base, added dozens of new businesses and landed awards for being a desirable community to live in, Mayor Shari Cantor said in her annual State of the Town speech Thursday.

“We’re stronger now and we’re going to be stronger coming out of this,” Cantor said in the virtual presentation to the Chamber of Commerce.

“We all know people are leaving urban centers. West Hartford has been so successful in attracting New Yorkers — I think it’s the walkability and the ability to have a high quality of life and still have wonderful, wonderful amenities,” Cantor said.
