I-91 south closed in Hartford after truck crash spills lumber across highway

Southbound Interstate 91 was shut down Tuesday afternoon in Hartford after a tractor trailer truck carrying lumber tipped and spilled its cargo across the entire highway, forcing traffic to be diverted down into the capital city and causing long delays.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. between Exits 29A and 27 and the highway was still shut down almost 90 minutes later as crews tried to clear the lumber from at least a few of the lanes to let traffic pass, the Department of Transportation cameras in the area showed.

It was not immediately clear whether the driver of the truck or anyone else was hurt in the incident.
