Randy Edsall and his staff continue to see success on the recruiting trail, adding a commitment from Tyler Phommachanh, a class of 2021 quarterback from Avon Old Farms. Phommachanh, a Stratford, Connecticut native, is rated as a 2-star recruit by 247Sports and chose his home-state Huskies over Army, Navy, UMass, Dartmouth and others.
At 6-feet, 185 pounds, Phommachanh is a true dual-threat quarterback who can make the throws in the pocket, but has enough awareness to know when to tuck and run for chunk yardage. His speed as a runner makes him a legit threat on run-pass option (RPO) plays, and he has enough body control to make tough throws on the run or off balance.
