Police are looking for the person or people who fired shots at an undercover detective from Hartford on I-84 Thursday night.
The detective was fired on about 10:30 p.m. after he had spotted a vehicle that made him suspicious in the Prospect Avenue area, near the West Hartford line, they said. He had been patrolling the area because of a recent bout of gun violence.
The detective got on the highway at Exit 44 to follow the vehicle, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up next to him. The detective then heard numerous rounds of gunfire, police said.
