GLASTONBURY — In a heated exchange with a Black Lives Matter leader, a Glastonbury firefighter suggested banning a lifesaving drug used to revive opioid overdose victims, video of the encounter shows.
The confrontation between firefighter James Stanley and BLM860 leader Ivelisse Correa happened Sunday during the Hartford-based organization’s food drive in Glastonbury Center. Stanley has since apologized for his remark.
Video shot by Correa shows she and Stanley and others arguing about slavery, Martin Luther King Jr. quotes, a BLM protester’s do-rag, sexual orientation, redlining, Black on Black crime, white on white crime and domestic violence.
Correa then asks Stanley, who is holding an American flag, why Glastonbury residents are not dealing with the epidemic in their own backyard, the continuing devastation caused by heroin and other opioids.
