A gas main break in the Parkville section of Hartford prompted evacuations, road closures and a significant emergency response Tuesday morning.
An excavator at a construction site on Madison Avenue hit and ruptured a gas line, Hartford Police Lt. Paul Cicero said at about 11:10 a.m.
Connecticut Natural Gas responded, along with police and eight fire engines, Cicero said. Emergency responders were evacuating people from buildings in the area and blocking surrounding streets, he said.
