The Waterbury Fire Marshal’s office investigating the cause of a fire that killed one person Tuesday.
Waterbury fire, police and EMS responded to a report of a structure fire at 13 Popular Place. Police said firefighters extinguished the fire and located an adult female victim in the building. She was pronounced dead around 4:15 p.m., police said.
Waterbury detectives and the Crime Scene Unit of the Forensic Division responded to assist the Waterbury Fire Marshal on this investigation, police said.
Police said the woman’s name was not being released pending confirmation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and notification of next of kin.
