Earlier this month, 2018 UConn signee James Akinjo was released from his National Letter of Intent, and on Wednesday Emmitt Matthews, Jr. announced that he, too, is exploring other options.
With Akinjo and Matthews Jr. departing, big man Lukas Kisunas is now the only player currently committed to UConn for the class of 2018. Reportedly, Hurley is watching Kisunas play today.
Matthews is from Tacoma, Washington and has not officially closed the door on eventually coming to Storrs. Associate head coach Raphael Chillious, who likely will not be returning as a part of Dan Hurley’s staff, was a big part of his recruitment, so this is not much of a surprise.
