An elderly West Hartford woman was kidnapped Thursday afternoon when a knife-wielding man entered the car she was sitting in outside a post office and sped away.
The suspect dropped the woman off at a nearby supermarket and then led police officers on a pursuit into Hartford, where the chase was called off and detectives ultimately located the man in the stolen car in the Parkville neighborhood, police said Friday.
Anthony Almedina, 41, was arrested inside the car on Heath Street and charged with nearly a dozen offenses, including first-degree kidnapping and engaging police in a pursuit, Perruccio said.
