Danbury’s city council voted Thursday night to rename the city’s sewer treatment plant after “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver as donations swell to secure the honor.
The unusual move puts to rest a playful feud between Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton and the popular HBO host that’s been brewing since Oliver’s jabs at Danbury in an August segment.
The council had first discussed the name change Tuesday evening before pushing off the vote an additional two days.
“It’s official the Danbury Sewer Plant is now the John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant,” Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton tweeted.
