Daily coronavirus updates: COVID-19 metrics mostly flat as Connecticut approaches 8,000 deaths; Lamont criticizes CDC for Johnson & Johnson vaccine pause

Connecticut’s coronavirus hospitalizations dropped on Wednesday even as its positivity rate rose — the inverse of the previous day’s numbers and a sign that the state’s coronavirus metrics are flattening.

On Wednesday, Connecticut reported that hospitalizations dropped by 27, undoing the previous day’s rise, for a total of 518 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

The state on Wednesday also reported 1,609 newly identified coronavirus cases out of 36,502 tests administered, for a daily positivity rate of 4.4%.
