Daily coronavirus updates: Connecticut’s positivity rate hits 4.1%, Gov. Lamont announces

Connecticut’s positive coronavirus test rate hit 4.1% on Tuesday, Gov. Ned Lamont announced at a press briefing in West Hartford. The state has not seen such a high number since June 6.

The state’s coronavirus numbers have been climbing since early September, and both state officials and medical experts have said Connecticut is experiencing a significant outbreak.

The state reported a positivity rate mostly below 1% for a number of weeks during the late summer, but the rate jumped above that threshold on Sept. 9. It hit a four-month high of 3% last week, and exceeded 4% for the first time on Tuesday.
