Coronavirus safety measures helped a Farmington manufacturer win a $10M international contract

A rigorous COVID-19 safety plan was a factor in Farmington-based Mott Corp. landing a $10 million-plus contract in Mexico that will sustain about 200 Connecticut jobs, the company’s top official said.

Mott will produce high-precision gas and liquid filtration systems for a refinery for Pemex, the Mexican petroleum giant.

Mott announced the contract Friday as its first major entry into the Mexican market, and Chief Executive Officer Boris Levin said that could open the door to more work in the future.

“Quality and reliability is so important in this field,” Levin said. “When you can prove that you can do the job, they usually keep coming back because of the criticality of what do we for them.
