A Connecticut inmate died Thursday of complications related to the coronavirus, the state Department of Corrections said Friday. At least 10 other incarcerated individuals have died of coronavirus-related complications since the pandemic began.

The 47-year-old man was transferred from the MacDougall-Walker Medical Isolation Unit in Suffield to an outside hospital for treatment on Nov. 28. There, “he succumbed to his illnesses,” officials said. The department did not identify him, citing privacy laws.

The individual last entered the Connecticut correctional system on March 28, 2019 and was serving a two and a half year sentence for the “sale of hallucinogen/narcotic substances” in addition to “assault a public safety, emergency medical, public transit or healthcare personnel,” said the department.
