A Colchester driver died after she was rear-ended on Route 2 in Glastonbury Monday evening, state police said.
Marie Mathieu, 58, of Coco Drive was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to Hartford Hospital, where she died a short time later, they said. The other driver, Mark Herbst, 62, of Park Place in Hartford, was not injured.
According to police, the crash happened about 5:30 p.m. near the on-ramp for Exit 9. Herbst’s westbound 2012 Mercedes-Benz was east of the ramp when it struck Mathieu’s 2004 Toyota Camry, which was on the shoulder of the highway at the top of the entrance ramp.
