Bridgeport restaurant owner accused of offering bribes to detective, pressuring ex-chief to end sexual assault investigation of 2 employees

The owner of Vazzy’s restaurants has been arrested and accused of offering a $1,000 bribe to a Bridgeport detective as part of a scheme to convince the police to drop an investigation into sexual assault claims made by the detective’s daughter while she was employed at a Vazzy’s location.

John J. Vazzano, 58, also allegedly coordinated with then-Police Chief A.J. Perez to pressure detectives to drop the inquiry and misled members of a U.S. Marshals task force on the day they set out to arrest the two men accused of sexually assaulting the detective’s daughter, according to court records released Wednesday.
