Bloomfield double murder suspect Russell Smith narrowly escaped police the night of the fatal shootings outside Elizabeth’s Bar & Restaurant in late February, apparently sneaking out of the parking lot in his car while officers were treating the victims just a few yards away, newly released documents reveal.
Officers were on the scene within seconds of the gunfire and the first arriving car’s dash camera footage appears to capture Smith entering his car and leaving the parking lot less than a minute later as officers attended to the victims and crowd at the bar, according to Smith’s arrest warrant affidavit released Friday.
