Black Lives Matter protester arrested in Glastonbury for blocking traffic, highlighting tensions between activists, motorists

The arrest of a protester who police said was obstructing traffic in Glastonbury this week highlights simmering tensions between Black Lives Matter activists and motorists in the town.

Erin Melocowsky, 19, of Glastonbury, was charged with disorderly conduct, police said. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 16.

The arrest happened at Main Street and Hebron Avenue during a protest involving members of Black in Glastonbury, or blackingbury, and Black Lives Matter 860. Members of the groups have been holding protests all summer on Sunday and Monday nights, police said.
