Baseball bat attacks, chases, lead to attempted murder and other charges in Torrington, police say

Police arrested a Torrington man on an attempted murder charge after a car chase and foot pursuit following what they said was a vicious baseball bat attack on two women.

Both women — one of whom is more than 20 years older than the man — were seriously injured but are expected to survive, police said.

Richard Dillon, 37, of Mountain Road was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, first-degree assault on an elderly victim, threatening, disorderly conduct, tampering with evidence and interfering with police, they said.

According to police, they were called to the violent domestic disturbance in the Mountain Road home Thursday.
