As COVID-19 spreads in Danbury, city to hold all classes remotely, close parks

As COVID-19 cases rise quickly in Danbury, spurring the state to issue its first-ever COVID-19 alert, the city announced Monday that all public school classes will be held remotely through at least Oct. 1.

The district had previously announced a hybrid plan, with some classes in person and others remote. Now, Danbury will join New Haven as the second Connecticut district to go entirely remote to begin the school year.

“In recent days, we have been monitoring the rapid uptick in positive COVID-19 cases across the City of Danbury,” Superintendent Sal Pascarella wrote in a letter to the local community.
