Despite the severe nationwide downturn in the hotel and events industries, the owner of the DoubleTree in Bristol is building.
Dr. Gerald Reznick is adding a 90-room Home2Suite extended-stay hotel next to his DoubleTree, which is near Lake Compounce and just down Route 229 from ESPN.
Reznick and Prestige Hospitality, which manages the DoubleTree and will also run the new hotel, acknowledged how badly the coronavirus has damaged the hotel and events industries.
But they expect business travel, conferences, weddings and other parts of the economy will be improved when the new facilities open in 2022.
