After failed high-tech plan, housing among options for former UConn campus in West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD — With few large parcels left to build on in West Hartford, the former University of Connecticut campus represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for redevelopment that could boost tax rolls, and new housing is among the proposals for the 58 acres near Bishops Corner.

Town Manager Matt Hart said some of the proposals involve housing based on his understanding of recent conversations with Collier’s International, the commercial real estate services firm that is seeking purchase and development bids for the current owner, Ideanomics.

“This is very significant,” Hart said. “We are at roughly 58 acres, right in the middle of our fully developed communities.
