After dramatic rescue, Windsor Airman named USO National Guardsman of the Year

A 20-year-old member of the Air National Guard has received national recognition for rescuing a driver after a rollover crash last year.

Airman 1st Class Sikander Rahman of the 103rd Airlift Wing in East Granby has been named 2020 USO National Guardsman of the Year. The Windsor High School graduate received the award Dec. 5.

An off-duty Hartford detective witnessed the rescue on the afternoon of July 3, 2019, when Rahman was 18.
