A woman who helped convict a notorious Hartford killer as a teen in 1953 will finally get the $3,000 reward that was denied to her

When a young girl came forward about her own sexual assault after the murder of an 11-year-old who was raped and strangled days later, she helped Hartford police catch a serial predator and murderer in the early 1950s.

The girl was denied a $3,000 reward for help solving the case, but that will change after Connecticut lawmakers recently passed a bill honoring her bravery and offering the financial compensation she was entitled to nearly 70 years ago.

The 17-year-old who was assaulted and aided police in capturing Robert N. Malm in late 1953 is now an86 year-old-woman who resides in West Hartford.
