A COVID-19 vaccine is possibly weeks away, but Connecticut doesn’t have enough money to properly plan, state official says

As two COVID-19 vaccines barrel toward authorization, with dosages potentially becoming available before the end of the year, Connecticut’s public health commissioner said Thursday that the state still doesn’t have the federal funding it needs to construct a robust distribution plan.

“There’s a little bit of money,” said Acting Public Health Commissioner Dr. Deidre Gifford. “But it’s not really adequate to the task.”

The state has so far received $2.4 million in federal funding for its vaccine distribution planning, according to Department of Public Health spokesperson Av Harris.
